Val Gardena is a large alpine valley with villages interconnected to the higher altitudes by a network of cable cars and walking trails. How can we translate traditional cartographic map into a form where we can quickly see patterns for nice round trips? Rather than focusing on geographic accuracy, the map is simplified into a handful of geometric segments where certain values are defined by their shape, colour or size. To get a rough estimate on route's duration and typical terrain we simply look and count relevant segments.
